On March 21, 2023, the ES-SO (European Solar Shading Organization) will establish the first “Global Shading Day”. The goal is to raise public awareness about the human, ecological, and economic benefits of shading. March 21st has symbolic significance as it is the day of the Spring Equinox. At the same time, relevant information on the beneficial advantages of shading will be provided at shade product sales points throughout Europe.

The main goal of this event is to inform people about the various new, aesthetically pleasing and functional shading products available. Traditional shading products have always provided comfort and cooling during the summer. Due to the effects of climate change, they have become an integral part of our buildings and provide us with energy-saving benefits and cost-effectiveness (see GUIDEHOUSE study).

The main advantages of shading products include:

1. Saving money on energy, improving the energy efficiency of our buildings
2. Protecting ourselves, our homes, and interiors from harmful UV rays from the sun
3. Achieving thermal comfort. We can cool our homes and maintain temperatures at better levels.
4. Achieving optimal visual comfort and improving the aesthetics of our homes.
